JOB SUMMARY:

Come Join Our Team of Chaplains who provide a complete range of spiritual and pastoral care to Veterans and their families.

OUR MISSION: To fulfill President Lincoln's promise – "To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan" – by serving and honoring the men and women who are America's Veterans.

The chaplain has full responsibility for providing complete religious ministry to Veteran patients.   The chaplain assesses religious, ethical, moral, and spiritual problems of patients and provides appropriate ministry, including in-depth pastoral counseling.

The chaplain provides worship services and sacraments to Roman Catholic patients and locates other chaplains or community clergy when necessary to meet religious needs that the chaplain cannot meet.

The chaplain assures that Veterans' right to free exercise of religion is upheld and that they are protected from proselytizing from any source while receiving VA care.

The chaplain participates actively on interdisciplinary teams to plan and carry out pastoral and spiritual care that is fully integrated into the holistic care provided to Veterans.

The chaplain will be regularly scheduled for on-call duty outside of the regularly scheduled work week.   While on-call the chaplain will carry a pager and respond immediately to calls from medical center staff.

The chaplain documents spiritual assessments and spiritual care in electronic medical records.
