About the Position:
The US Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, provides for navigation, flood and hurricane protection, environmental stewardship, and other water resources needs to benefit the people of southern Louisiana and the nation. Duty station is Iberville, LA. The office is located in a single-story building (off the ground) inside a fenced area, with parking provided on both sides of the levee (Bayou Pigeon and Bayou Sorrel). Limited kitchen facilities are provided that include a microwave oven and refrigerator. The office complex includes the control houses, main office, mechanic's office, storage buildings, are located on the Bayou Pigeon side with both sides of the lock accessible by foot traffic only when the lock gate is closed. Bayou Sorrel is located about 35 miles out of Baton Rouge towards Plaquemine, LA, on Hwy 1 to LA 75 in a remote area and does not have public transportation. The lock is located about 90 miles from New Orleans and about 35 miles from Morgan City, LA.
