About the Agency
The VA Maine Healthcare System is seeking a Chief of Staff who will function as a key member of the senior leadership team, actively participating in the development of overall management objectives and philosophies necessary for the attainment of optimum efficiency in providing health care to our Veteran population. The incumbent effectively leads the clinical staff.
The Chief of Staff reports directly to the Medical Center Director. (S)He is responsible for the coordination of clinical activities, clinical staff and administrative oversight. The incumbent monitors and ensures medical staff compliance with agency regulations, medical staff bylaws, facility policies, Joint Commission (JC) standards, and other appropriate regulations. (S)He possesses a broad knowledge and understanding of health care policies, missions, and operating programs, and extensive specialized knowledge of health care management.
The VA Maine Healthcare System provides care to approximately 39,000 Veterans annually in 16 counties. It is a 67 bed facility with general medical, surgical, and mental health beds, as well as a 100-bed Nursing Home including of 50 Skilled and Longer Stay beds, a 27-bed Dementia Unit, and a 12-bed Hospice and Palliative Care Unit. VA Maine HCS has a total of 9 CBOCs, Outreach Clinics, or a Mobile Medical Unit, that provide primary care and behavior medicine services. The hospital is well maintained and sits on 500+ acres; it is the first veterans' healthcare facility established in the United States.
Salary to be determined by Physician/Dentist Compensation Panel. By law, U.S. Citizens will be given 1st preference but non-citizens will be considered in the absence of qualified citizens.
