The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for the overall maintenance, repair and upkeep of the facility's building structures and systems, including plumbing, electrical wiring and fixtures, machinery, equipment, electronics, vehicles and grounds. Supervises and schedules work for inmates/residents assigned to maintenance work projects. Responsible for tracking and timely completion of all work orders; notes deficiencies on daily inspections. May be designated the facility Fire/Safety Officer.

Investigates incidents, accidents or injuries; compiles and submits reports as required by policies, procedures, contracts or deregulatory agencies
* Conducts fire drills.
* Verifies that all employees complete the required initial and on-going periodic fire/safety/sanitation training.
* Monitors safety practices and ensures that accidents or unsafe practices are reported. Takes appropriate action in cases of serious and unusual incidents and emergencies.
* Conducts inspections of all housing and general use areas to verify that proper standards, facility operating procedures and corporate guidelines of security, health, safety, sanitation and welfare are maintained. Directs staff and inmate/resident resources to correct problems detected.
* Chairs and/or participates as a member of the Team Safety committee as directed or required.
* May serve as the alternate Safety Officer.
Qualifications:
High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent is required. Six years of full-time, wage-earning experience in facilities maintenance or construction is required. Thirty semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to include six semester hours in a risk management related field may be substituted for each year of experience on a year-for-year basis for a maximum substitution of two years; or graduation from a program in a maintenance or construction related field from a U.S. military technical training school may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
