Position Description

This position is responsible for providing leadership to associates in the department and is responsible for coordinating and supervising maintenance tasks performed on facilities and equipment. The purpose of this position is to maximize equipment and facility effectiveness and to reduce unscheduled downtime and waste, and promote a high moral environment in the maintenance mechanics.

Responsible for ensuring the best quality products, excellent customer service by maintaining regular quality audits (AIB), good manufacturing practices, compliance with federal/state/local regulations (FDA, OSHA, Department of Agriculture, Department of Health, etc.), HACCP, meet or exceed Global Food Safety Standards (BRC), environmental compliance, and DOT mandates.
Position Requirements

 Supports General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1. Ensuring that General safety and Food Safety are absolute priorities by setting an example to others.

 Ensures that Product Quality is an absolute priority by utilizing IPM, plant teams, and outside resources.

 Plans, organizes, directs and controls the work performed by Mechanics. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow. Issues written and oral instructions. Assigns duties and examines work for conformance to policies and procedures. Provides customer service to production and sanitation departments for equipment maintenance, repairs, modifications, designs and installations.

 Responsible for associate relations and meeting department safety objectives. Participates in accident investigations and all safety related activities. Maintains harmony among workers and resolves disputes. Supports the values and policies of the organization.

 Maintains production equipment in a manner that meets company standards and ensures minimum equipment downtime. Provides fast and efficient response to emergency breakdowns and problem calls.

 Establishes and maintains preventive-predictive maintenance programs and procedures. Communicates status to Assistant Plant Engineer or Chief Engineer as appropriate.

 Supervises contractors and vendors while they are conducting work for the maintenance department while on the premises.

 Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and standards. Enforces safety, GMP and housekeeping practices. Ensures compliance with AIB standards, company policies and government food safety regulations.

 Supervises, trains, coaches and develops associates to include responsibility for personnel and/or labor issues throughout the plant.
