This position is located in the Office of Enforcement and Oversight, Office of Security and Cyber Evaluations within the Office of Health, Safety and Security.
 
The Office of Security and Cyber Evaluations (HS-44) is responsible for the independent evaluation of the effectiveness of safeguards and security policies and programs throughout the Department, including protection of special nuclear material, protection of classified and sensitive unclassified information, and foreign visits and assignments. The office develops and validates reports that identify findings, issues, and opportunities for improvement. It also performs follow-up reviews to ensure corrective actions are effective and that complex-wide studies of issues and generic weaknesses in safeguards and security are appropriately addressed.
 
 
A successful candidate in this position will serve as a senior security authority in the Protective Force topical area.  The Protective Force topical area encompasses all aspects of protective force operations at DOE and NNSA facilities, including force management, equipment and facilities, training and routine and emergency duties.  He/she will be called upon to contribute significantly to the planning of the overall security oversight program, plan and conduct highly specialized and complex on-site inspections of DOE and NNSA facilities, provide advice to management on the operation of the inspection program, and advise management on security program improvements.

  • The incumbent will be required to travel approximately 30% of the time for a period of 2 weeks at a time that results in being away from home for approximately 3 to 4 weeks over a 3-month inspection cycle.
