This position is located in the Susceptibility Reduction Branch, Combat Survivability Division, Systems Engineering Department, Research and Engineering Group, Naval Air Warfare Center - Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) of the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Patuxent River, MD.

The Combat Survivability Division (AIR-4.1.8) is responsible for developing and implementing the combat survivability policies of the Division/Competency and the Naval Air Systems Team (TEAM). The 4.1.8 Division provides support and direction in combat survivability engineering matters throughout the TEAM in the disciplines of design criteria, methodologies, policies, procedures, planning, standards, instructions, specifications, and handbooks. The 4.1.8 Division is responsible for conceiving, planning, establishing, and executing survivability Research & Development (R&D) and related survivability technology; and for supporting TEAM Integrated Program Teams (IPTs), Externally Directed Teams (EDTs), and Enterprise Teams (ETs), on matters pertaining to air weapon systems combat survivability. The 4.1.8 Division also works with the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the Naval Aviation Science and Technology Office (NAVSTO) and Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) to plan, program, manage, budget and direct programs for exploratory R&D and non-acquisition advanced development in the multiple technological and functional areas that effect air vehicle survivability. Additionally, the 4.1.8 Division is responsible for maturing and transitioning advanced and affordable survivability technologies into existing programs.
