Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

This position is being advertised concurrently with SWGG148334741034171 (Merit). Only two positions will be filled from these vacancy announcements. Candidates who wish to be considered under both DEU and Merit Promotion procedures MUST apply to both vacancy announcements separately.

About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Locks and Dams Project Office, Lock and Dam 3, near Red Wing, Minnesota. This position is an 8-month full time seasonal Lock and Dam Operator.

This position falls under the Inland Marine Transportation System (IMTS) Lock and Dam Operator Training and Certification program. The applicant selected to this position is required to complete and pass the IMTS Lock and Dam Operator training and certification program. This required training is not more than 52 weeks (the length of the 1 year probationary period) program not including time while in seasonal layoff. The selected applicant will be hired at the WY-05 level and will be eligible to be promoted to the WY-07 level once the first 27 assignments have been completed and written tests passed. To be eligible to be promoted to the WY-08 level the selected applicant must complete remaining assignments, pass final certification exam, and meet the minimum experience requirements at grade WY-07.
