About the Agency
The Greater Yellowstone Network (GRYN) is one of 32 inventory and monitoring networks nationwide that were established by the National Park Service to help enhance the scientific basis for stewardship and management of natural resources in Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, Grand Teton National Park, John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway and Yellowstone National Park. The GRYN is within the Inventory and Monitoring Division of the Natural Resources Stewardship and Science, Washington Area Service Office, of the National Park Service. The primary purpose of the Inventory and Monitoring Program is to develop, organize and make available natural resource data and to contribute to the Services institutional knowledge by facilitating the transformation of data into information through analysis, synthesis and modeling.

This is a temporary position, limited to 1,039 hours of work in a service year and may be terminated at any time. The position typically works eight (8), ten (10) hours days followed by six (6) days off while in the field and you will camp in remote backcountry locations during this time. Applicants may be selected at either the GS-05 or GS-06 grade level. Please indicate the lowest acceptable grade you are willing to accept in the Questionnaire portion of the application process. Housing is not provided. Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for re-hire in subsequent service years. The service year is established upon your entrance on duty date. We expect to fill 2 positions; however additional selections may be made within 90 days of the closing date of the announcement.
