JOB SUMMARY:
Western Area Power Administration - Serving the West with Federal Hydropower We offer career opportunities in a fast-paced, dynamic electric utility industry. We market federally produced hydropower from more than 50 powerplants across the central and western United States and operate and maintain over 17,000 miles of high-voltage transmission lines. The Western Area Power Administration is one of four power marketing administrations within the Department of Energy .
This is NOT a full level journeyman position. The objective of Western's CIT program is to recruit journeyman-level craftsmen with knowledge and experience that is relevant, but less than required at the journeyman level for this occupation in Western.

Where will I be on the pay scale? Trainees will be compensated at a progressively increasing percentage of the basic wage rate paid to the journeyman, who is engaged in the same trade at the same field location. An employee entering the program with a 2-year requirement receives 90% of journeyman wages for the craft being entered and is eligible for a 2.5% increase every 6 months. If an employee is placed at a step with less than 2 years to complete (minimum of six months), the employee will receive wages commensurate with that step. Craftsman-in Training pay rates: Step 1 - $ 35.76 per hour Step 2 - $ 36.75 per hour Step 3 - $ 37.74 per hour Step 4 - $ 38.74 per hour Journeyman Electrician pay rate is $39.73 per hour.
