The USDA Forest Service has legislative authority to recruit and fill Permanent (Career/Career-Conditional), Temporary, and Term Appointments under the USDA Demonstration Project. Under this authority, any U.S. citizen may apply.
This position is located on the Spotted Bear Ranger District of the Flathead National Forest. This position will be stationed at the Spotted Bear Ranger District from mid-May to mid-November, and at the Hungry Horse Ranger Station from mid-November to mid-May. These dates may vary depending on weather conditions and project needs. The Spotted Bear Ranger District is approximately 2 hours travel time from Hungry Horse Ranger District. Additionally, this position will work temporarily out of Schafer Meadows Station and/or Big Prairie Station for extended periods of time.
This is a Full Time Permanent Seasonal Forestry Technician (Wilderness/Trails) position on the Recreation Staff of the Spotted Bear Ranger District. This position provides supervision to one of the Wilderness and Trails programs on the District, serves as an inspector for agreements and contracts, and utilizes stock to support back-country locations. This position requires travel/hiking to remote work locations, and may require irregular hours of work. Housing may be available at the Spotted Bear Ranger District (e.g. bunkhouse or camp trailer) and there is a single family residence at the Schafer Meadows Station.
This Full Time Permanent Seasonal position will work a minimum of 13 pay periods up to 18 pay periods annually.
