This vacancy is being advertised under delegated examining procedures. Area of consideration is all US citizens. This is a TERM position, seasonal (subject-to-furlough), with initial appointment made for 13 months. The appointment may be extended (generally in 1-year increments) for up to a maximum of 4 total years, funding dependent. A subject-to-furlough position means an employee will be in a work/pay status a guaranteed minimum of 13-pay periods (6 months) per service year. Time in work/pay status will not exceed 24-pay periods per service year. It is expected that the incumbent of this position will be in pay status approximately 22 pay periods per service year. Work schedule will be fulltime while in pay status. Appointment to this position will not convey permanent status in the Federal service. AREA INFORMATION: Duty location is West Glacier, MT. West Glacier has seasonal food and gas services. Columbia Falls (17 miles) has most amenities; however, all services are available in Kalispell (32 miles) or Whitefish (28 miles). Glacier National Park and its surrounding area provide a variety of recreational activities both in the summer (hiking, camping, fishing, canoeing/kayaking, boating, etc.) and in winter (cross country and downhill skiing, hunting, ice fishing, etc.). The majestic mountain vistas, cool lakes and streams, the variety of wildflowers, and wildlife sightings are special attractions to the area. Winters in West Glacier are characterized by frequent snow, cold, and extended periods of overcast weather. Grade school through sixth grade is available in West Glacier. Junior high and high school students are bused to Columbia Falls.
