The Veterans Affairs Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS) has a current Registered Nurse vacancy as t he Infection Prevention And Control (IPC) Coordinator . The incumbent is a dministratively and clinically responsible to the Chief, Quality Management or designee.

The incumbent practices as a Registered Nurse in the Quality Management Office. The IPC Coordinator (IPCC) acts as a consultant and expert resource regarding infection control and safety concerns. The IPCC demonstrates leadership and creative approaches to assist members of the healthcare team in the identification and management of infection control and safety issues. The IPCC is responsible for participating in the identification, analysis, and resolution of healthcare delivery issues related to safety and infection control. The IPCC demonstrates excellent communication skills and acts as an advocate for quality patient care through ensuring a safe healthcare environment.

The incumbent will be proficient and demonstrate competency and the ability to either set up or reprocess Reusable Medical Equipment as applicable for all equipment for which he/she has been trained. And/or applies knowledge of JC/VHA standards applicable to RME processes and monitors compliance Familiarizes self with how their activities impact VA's goal to implement sound stewardship practices that are protective of the air, water, land, and other natural and cultural resources. In accordance with the goals of the VA GEMS program, seeks to cost-effectively meet or exceed compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local environmental; public health; and resource protection laws, regulations, and VA requirements. Seeks to incorporate practices necessary to implement the requirements of Executive Order 13423, "Strengthening Federal Environmental, Energy and Transportation Management."

Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. The IPCC has programmatic responsibility for the Infection Prevention and Control program within specified area (s) of assignment that cross service and/or discipline lines, and executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex programs/processes that impact patient care and organizational performance, at the local, Interagency (MOFMC) and VISN levels. Performs targeted surveillance throughout the facility and ensures compliance with VHA, VISN, and Federal policies and regulatory agencies.
