The Veterans Affairs Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS) has vacancies for Staff Nurse Primary Care Clinic. The incumbent is a dministratively and clinically responsible to Nurse Manager, Primary Care thru Deputy Chief Nurse to the Associate Director Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive (APDCS/NE).

The incumbent is assigned to the office of Nursing Service. Provides patient-centered nursing care to the veteran population. This is defined as collaborating in a team-oriented, customer-driven, professional environment to develop new models of care that emphasize prevention, improve access and coordination of care; educate and empower patients and their families; enhance the customer experience with positive human interactions and therapeutic alliances; and promote the coordination, continuity and integration of care. Demonstrates flexibility, integrity and customer confidence by professional dress and demeanor. This veteran population is comprised of male and female individuals of various races/ethnicities, who possess education levels from grade school to college, may have served in various war eras, and pertain to various religions. The population age group served is age 18 and above. A summary of duties include: He/She works with a team of individuals to manage a panel of patients in a primary care setting. Applies the nursing process and incorporates evidence-based practices to individuals and groups focusing on cost-effective ways to maximize wellness, prevent illness, and manage acute and chronic diseases to effect the most attainable positive health status over the patient's life span up to and including a peaceful death. Nursing encounters may occur face-to-face or via telephone or other communication devices. Utilizes concepts of motivational interviewing to promote healthy lifestyle changes. Demonstrates ability to educate patients, advocate for patients, care manage, triage, identify and link patients with appropriate resources, collaborate with interdisciplinary team, implement primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention, delegate appropriately, perform clinical procedures, communicate well, and utilize computer for electronic documentation, initiating orders per policy, data collection, and reports. Contributes to development of policies and procedures. He/She may be assigned to cross cover in other clinical areas within his/her competency level. The incumbent will be proficient and demonstrate competency and the ability to either set up or reprocess Reusable Medical Equipment as applicable for all equipment for which he/she has been trained. Familiarizes self with how their activities impact VA's goal to implement sound stewardship practices that are protective of the air, water, land, and other natural and cultural resources. In accordance with the goals of the VA GEMS program, seeks to cost-effectively meet or exceed compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local environmental; public health; and resource protection laws, regulations, and VA requirements. Seeks to incorporate practices necessary to implement the requirements of Executive Order 13423, "Strengthening Federal Environmental, Energy and Transportation Management."


KEY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care
  • Must have 2-3 years Current nursing experience
