This position is located in the Research & Engineering Group, SE and ALRE Dept., Test Site Operations Division, ALRE Instrumentation and Engineering Branch (Code 4893), Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, NJ.  The position acts as a specialist in the custom application of instrumentation systems required to support Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) system Test Teams.  Test Site ALRE includes Naval and Marine aircraft catapult and arresting gear systems, Jet Blast Deflectors (JBD), and the Recovery Assist Security & Traversing (RAST) System.  The selectee will execute projects by establishing instrumentation requirements, specifying instrumentation configurations, overseeing project operations and coordinating post process operations a the various Test Sites, which include the Jet Car Track Site, the Recovery Assisted Landing Site, The Catapult Site, JBD Site, and Elevated Fixed Platform.  In addition, the selectee actively participates in the Capital Purchase and Military Construction Programs, recognizes new system requirements, coordinates the establishment of new specifications, and works as a member of the development team to implement and deploy instrumentation systems.  Test projects may be located either t one of the many “test” sites or may require travel to one of the many air capable naval vessels or to another government or private facility.
