This is a Recent Graduate position in the Pathways Program.  Selected individuals are placed in a dynamic one year developmental program in the excepted service designed to lead to a civil service career in the Federal government.  At the successful conclusion of this program, the agency may non-competitively convert individuals to a term or permanent position in the competitive service.  Conversion to a Federal competitive service position will be at the discretion of the agency and is neither guaranteed nor implied. 

 

Every day our Asylum Officers adjudicate asylum applications, conduct credible/reasonable fear screenings, and adjudicate other benefit applications managed by the asylum program, including motions to reopen and reconsider.

TRAVEL REQUIRED
  • 25% or Greater
  • Frequent travel is required for this position. Asylum Officers are required to travel to circuit-ride locations (locations established to serve applicants in distant locations from the home asylum office, generally at other USCIS District Offices and detention facilities) to conduct interviews. As immigration emergencies arise, selectee may be required to travel to other locations as well, sometimes for extended periods, to conduct interviews
