Reporting to the Parks/Cemetery Superintendent, this full-time position is responsible for general maintenance the cemetery, all buildings located in the cemetery, and all maintenance equipment. Duties will include, but will not be limited to: Operating power mowers, push mowers, tractors, light trucks, skip loaders, backhoe and other power equipment used in maintenance and development of a cemetery facility. The employee will assist in the propagation of turf, and plants from seed and cuttings. Dig and backfills graves, repairs lines, haul dirt and gravel, rakes and picks up litter; keeps all restrooms neat and clean; paints, stains, assists in construction of buildings, signs, benches and equipment. Employee performs general maintenance on equipment, greasing, washing, and sharpening of mower blades. Operates spray equipment in controlling plant pests and diseases. Plants and irrigates new turf areas and landscape areas This position requires any combination of experience and training, which demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform this type of work. Applicants must have sufficient formal education to be able to read and write in the English language and have the ability to follow instructions and do simple mathematical calculations. A current valid driverapos;s license is also required. The range of pay is $15.11/hr. to $17.08/hr. with benefits. The applicants with the highest qualifications as determined by the screening process and will be invited to one or more interviews which may include written examinations, one or more oral presentation exercises, situational responses, or a combination of assessment exercises.
