The Cincinnati VA Medical Center (CVAMC) is a dynamic, highly affiliated, two divisional facility, in the heart of a large medical community and is adjacent to the University of Cincinnati (UC) Medical School, providing many opportunities for clinical collaborations, research and education.

The CVAMC has a large, vibrant and sophisticated research program, which is unusual for a medical facility of this size.  The Cincinnati VAMC has an active non-profit corporation (NPC) that supports local and national research and educational studies. A formal agreement has been established between the NPC and the Affiliated UC to facilitate the management of grants that involved both institutions.  Our VA Medical Center is also an active partner with UC and the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in a NIH – funded Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA).  Our VAMC has fully accredited animal (AAALAC) and human (AAHRPP) subject protection programs.

The CVAMC has an opening for one Physician for the position of Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for Research and Development. The ACOS reports to the Chief of Staff and is responsible for the scientific and managerial oversight of a variety of research programs spanning  basic, clinical, rehabilitation, health services, and multi-site clinical trials research. He/she serves as an advocate for the various projects, establishing policy in such areas as determining program emphasis and operating guidelines; determining resource needs, allocation; and effective use; identifying and obtaining funding from a variety of sources; dealing with a broad spectrum of factors that impact on the program such as public relations, Congressional relations, public policy stances, and the relationships with other parts of the Health Care System and the Department, other federal agencies and the affiliated medical schools and hospitals.
