About the Position:
This position performs duties on the Repair Fleet (traveling) which is a marine based repair party originating from Marietta, Ohio. The Repair Fleet is responsible for major/minor maintenance for 45 District projects which includes 9 high lift Locks and Dams and 36 flood control projects dispersed over a wide geographic region. The majority of maintenance activities take place on the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers at locations in WV, OH, and KY.
This is a full time, temporary position not to exceed one year; however, this position may be made permanent without further competition. If made permanent, the position will be a full time, seasonal position. Seasonal employment means annually recurring periods of work of less than 12 months each year. Seasonal employees are permanent employees who are placed in nonduty/nonpay status and recalled to duty in accordance with preestablished conditions of employment.
This position may require Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) 90% of the time. Duties will be performed primarily at field facilities operated by the Huntington District, necessitating extensive duty time away from official duty station. Standard Government travel allowances are applicable to such assignments when traveling outside the commuting area of Marietta, Ohio. NOTE: Belleville Locks and Dam and Willow Island Locks and Dam are within the commuting area of Marietta, OH; therefore, no travel allowances will be paid if work is being done at these projects.
Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
