About the position: Oregon Caves National Monument is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, hardworking individual for the position of GS-0090-6, Park Guide. This is a full-time TERM, seasonal position. There is ONE position available.
WHO MAY APPLY: This announcement is open to all U.S. citizens - applicants outside the Federal government may apply along with current Federal employees, and reinstatement eligibles. Qualified veterans who apply will receive Veterans Preference in accordance with current law and regulations.
This is a TERM appointment. Work is of a temporary, project funded nature. Appointment does not confer ability to be converted to a career or career-conditional appointment. Initial appointment will last for 13 months and maybe extended non-competitively for up to 4 years.
Area information: Oregon Caves National Monument is located at 4,000 feet, within the rugged and beautiful Siskiyou Mountains of southwestern Oregon, a region widely recognized for its rich geological and biological diversity. The residence area, visitor center, and historic lodge are all nestled around the cave entrance under a crown of lush green conifers, maples, and madrone trees. Several trailheads lead into the surrounding mountains. Twenty miles north, the town of Cave Junction offers groceries, several restaurants, and basic amenities. Grants Pass, 50-miles distant, offers a wider range of amenities, including a hospital. On site, rustic dormitory style housing may be available to rent.
