JOB SUMMARY:
<P>Job/Position Description The Orthopedic Equipment Tech II &#40;Wheelchair Technician&#41; performs skilled work in the area of wheelchair repair, maintenance, modification, and fabrication. Technician will work with Therapists to provide appropriate equipment for clients served. The Wheelchair Technician reports to the Wheelchair Shop Supervisor and to the Director of Habilitation Therapies. Work-related concerns will be discussed with the Supervisor. Fabrication concerns will be discussed with the Wheelchair Shop Supervisor and monitoring Therapist. The Wheelchair Technician is accountable for material needed and used in assignments. Upholstery and welding skills may be required. The ability to work with foam, plastics, and lightweight metals is essential. Duties include but are not limited to scheduled and unscheduled general maintenance of wheelchairs, repairs, and cleaning of wheelchairs, fabrication of adaptive equipment, charging batteries, and minor electrical and electronic repair. Essential Job Functions EJF 1. Performs skilled work in repair, maintenance, and modification of wheelchairs. Work includes repair of electric and manual wheelchairs as well as routine preventative maintenance on these chairs. Work will also entail custom fabrication of adaptive equipment. EJF 2. Responds to emergencies and unusual problems as required to maintain wheelchairs in acceptable working conditions. EJF 3. Utilizes computer skills to efficiently complete job tasks. Other duties as assigned include, but are not limited to, actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency&#39;s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations &#40;COOP&#41; activation.
