The Seasonal Recruitment Operations Center is currently accepting applications to fill up to twenty (20) temporary positions at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Arizona and Utah.  Appointments made under this announcement are limited to 1039 hours (six months) in a service year and may be terminated at any time. Appointments under this announcement are eligible for rehire and/or extension (when initial appointment is less than 1039 hours) if workload and funding allow. Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for rehire in subsequent service years.  Anticipated Entry on Duty:  April 2014

Glen Canyon National Recreation Area encompasses beautiful red-rock canyon country, great for hiking, back country recreational activities, and various water activities such as boating, fishing, and skiing.  The area is typical high desert climate with summer temperatures ranging from 100 + to mid teens in the winter.  Elevation varies from 4,300 feet above sea level (downlake) to 8,000 (uplake).

Page (downlake) offers normal community amenities such as shopping and medical.

Bullfrog, UT (uplake) is remote and amenities include a marina, marina store & gas docks, seasonal lodge & restaurant, gas station/convenience store, garage, and a urgent care clinic.

Halls Crossing, UT (uplake) is remote and amenities include a small convenience store, gas station, marina, housekeeping trailers, and a ferry with connections to Bullfrog 3 miles across the bay.

Hite, UT (uplake) is small, remote and amenities include a small convenience store, gas station, and housekeeping trailers.  Nearest medical facility is an urgent care clinic located in Bullfrog, a 1 hour 15 minute drive.  Closest full service communities to the uplake districts are Blanding, UT (90 miles) and Monticello, UT (115 miles); with major services available in Cortez or Grand Junction, Co and Page, AZ all 3-5 hours away.  The ability to work independently and be self-motivated is a must.
