The Seasonal Recruitment Operations Center is currently accepting applications to fill up to 10 temporary positions at Redwood National Park. Appointments made under this announcement are limited to 1039 hours (six months) in a service year and may be terminated at any time. Appointments under this announcement are eligible for rehire and/or extension (when initial appointment is less than 1039 hours) if workload and funding allow. Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for rehire in subsequent service years.  Anticipated Entry on Duty: April, 2014

AREA INFORMATION: Crescent City is a small town of approximately 4500 population located on the Pacific Ocean at Point St. George, 23 miles south of the Oregon border.  The area provides shopping, motels and restaurants for visitors and tourists, alike.  As the county seat, it is the largest community in the area.  Crescent City's weather is typical of the northern California coast, with mild summers and cool, moist winters.  The temperature averages between 45-70 degrees throughout the year.  Crescent City proper receives annual rainfall of about 75 inches, most falling between October and March.

Orick, California, is a small community approximately 40 miles north of Arcata/Eureka area. Orick features several stores, an elementary school, several souvenir shops and two cafes. The town is located a few miles downstream from the Tall Trees Grove, site of some of the world's tallest trees. There is limited housing available in Orick for rent or purchase. Arcata is a full-service community with complete medical services, hospitals, and schooling from K-12. There is a four-year college located in Arcata and a two-year college in Eureka.

This announcement may be used to fill additional positions if identical vacancies occur within 90 days of the issue date of the referral certificate.
