Position requires Certified Medical Assistant (CMA). Will also, be responsible for clinical CMA duties.
Responsibilities<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
1. Answer multi-line telephone system, take accurate messages, screen and direct telephone calls to the appropriate person in an efficient manner.
2. Greet and identify patients and visitors as they enter the office in reference to the daily schedule and obtain additional patient information as needed.
3. Request patients and visitors be seated in the waiting room in a courteous manner and communicate unexpected delays when necessary.
4. Review patient charts to ensure proper documentation and information are enclosed in accordance with practice guidelines.
5. Acquire necessary medical records and documents for patient charts by communicating via telephone, facsimile or in person with other office locations or office personnel.
6. Maintain a neat and organized waiting room and order supplies as needed.
7. Schedule patients for appointments and re-call appointments in an efficient and productive manner.
8. Input office charges from the patients fee sheet.
9. Input hospital charges when applicable.
10. Receive payments from patients for services rendered and prepare bank deposits on a daily basis.
11. Maintain accounts receivable records and place necessary collection calls to patients and insurance companies in a professional manner.
12. Create financial arrangements with patients for all treatment.
13. Review and take action on insurance and collection issues.
14. Perform clinical responsibilities when necessary in the absence of the clinical
medical assistant.
15. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required
1. One to two years of physician front office experience preferred.
2. Must have strong computer skills, be detailed-oriented and possess the ability to multitask
3. Analytical ability to handle financial and patient accounting information (i.e. the reading of insurance EOBs and explanation of billing cycle)
4. Strong written and verbal communication skills
5. Excellent interpersonal skills needed to interact effectively with patients, family members and other physician offices
