As part of the Health Care Team, the Respiratory Therapist/Pulmonary Function Technologist (RRT/CPFT) will provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care to the Veterans. The individual will be responsible for assisting the Chief and Assistant Chief of Respiratory Care Services, and Chief of Pulmonary Medicine to assure timely resolution of technical work problems with the aid of references, such as manuals, troubleshooting guides, and other reference sources, ordering and stocking of supplies and parts as needed, update manuals and procedures and recommend policies, that will maintain the PFT Lab up-to-date. The selectee also recommends changes that will improve service delivery, customer satisfaction and patient care practices. The selectee will report progress and resolution of problems in achieving goals and objectives. The incumbent will assist as well in planning and implementing effective educational programs for in-services, orientation, continuing education, and other personnel training in the PFT Lab. She/he will participate in the training of PFT Lab staff, medical students, house staff, nursing staff, other Medical Center personnel, and patients.
