Description PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Transportation Leader is responsible for the overall performance of our Delivery professionals, our fleet of trucks and their maintenance. The Transportation Leader is a team builder who plans, organizes, staffs, directs, and ensures the efficient operation of the department. The selection, development, motivation and creation of a team environment are key responsibilities. The Transportation Leader assists the Distribution Leader in establishing department objectives in the areas of cost, quality, productivity, safety, service and profit.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
The Transportation Leader must have a minimum of 1 year of previous experience in a distribution center or warehouse atmosphere, including delivery, receiving, shipping, customer service, and inventory control with a history of independent work and self-motivation. Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma. Must have a valid drivers license and meet the qualifications to drive a Company vehicle.
PREFERRED OFFICE/MACHINE EQUIPMENT EXPERIENCE:
Proficiency with PC for basic data entry requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The main responsibilities of the Transportation Leader are:
Assists Distribution Leader in the preparation of department goals
Develop schedules of deliveries and pickups that meet service and efficiency standards.
Establish standards for and oversee load time
Notify Reps of all non-deliveries
Expedite special deliveries
Maintains time and attendance
Coach delivery team by performing ride along evaluations
Ensures all delivery professionals and vehicles remain in compliance with all city, state and federal regulations.
Assists or performs equipment/setups, and fill and hold functions
Assists the daily processes of other departments as necessary.
Ensures that all subordinates are properly following PSS Operations SOPs.
Run reports as needed.
Manages the operations to blue ribbon standards.
Must maintain a good attendance record.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Any other job related tasks as assigned.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS
Supervises and offers leadership to subordinates in accordance with the organizations policies and guidelines. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems as needed.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is subject to a typical office environment and warehouse environment. The employee is required to perform warehouse tasks including possible operation of forklift, hand truck and manual lifting of boxes between 50 - 100 pounds.
