Rhode Island National Guard

The Rhode Island National Guard traces its history from the first colonial defensive force established in the town of Portsmouth, Rhode Island in 1638. Today, the Rhode Island National Guard consists of dedicated men and women, prepared to serve our State and Nation in a variety of military specialties.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Rhode Island Air National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Rhode Island Air National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Rhode Island Air National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

 

TEMPORARY TECHNICIAN APPOINTMENT/TEMPORARY PROMOTION. Selected individual MAY receive a temporary technician appointment or temporary promotion/reassignment. Persons appointed with temporary status MAY be separated when their services are no longer needed. If a permanent/indefinite excepted status employee at the same grade level as this announcement is selected, Nature of Action will be Reassignment; tenure will not change. If a permanent/indefinite excepted status employee is selected at a higher grade, Nature of Action MAY be Temporary Promotion. This temporary technician appointment/temporary promotion is NTE  31 March 2014 initially, unless mission requirements dictate an extension accordingly. Permanent Appointment will require competitive procedures.

Veteran's Preference does not apply to the National Guard Excepted Service.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) relocation allowance NOT authorized.

 

This position is located within an Air National Guard unit. Its primary purpose is to serve as the focal point, local authority and expert source for information in providing a wide variety of orderly room/administrative support for the organization.

• Must be a current member of the RI Air National Guard.
• Must hold a current rank of E-6/TSgt or below.
• Must have a valid state driver's license.
• Background Criminal Investigation required prior to appointment.
• Temporary Appointments/Temporary Promotions are time-limited and are not
• subject to AFSC or unit of assignment criteria.
