PURPOSE
The Royalty Accounting Supervisor is the finance professional who oversees BHPB''s US PRA Division of Interest maintenance Finance Analyst group. This individual will work with the Controller''s team and the Production finance team to provide royalty accounting, and overall financial governance for the Petroleum CSG''s US Domestic royalty accounting activities. This position will be instrumental in helping expand the royalty accounting group and its process and procedures to include the management of a large group of recently acquired US onshore properties. This position will have 6 direct reports.
Reporting Relationships:
This position will report to the Manager Revenue Accounting within the Controller''s group. Also reporting to the Manager Revenue Accounting is the Revenue Accounting Supervisor - International and GoM, Revenue Accounting Supervisor - US Onshore and Royalty Accounting Supervisor - US Onshore. The Controller''s team consists of the Revenue Accounting Manager, Operations Accounting Manager, Financial Systems Manager, Financial Accounting Manager, and Petroleum Tax Manager.

The Requirements:
Possess an undergraduate degree in finance or accounting.
CPA or equivalent is desired but not required.
Ten to Fifteen plus years of professional experience in upstream O&G with demonstrated experience in revenue and royalty accounting and overall financial stewardship & governance, including several years of US onshore revenue and royalty accounting experience.
Experience with Division Order maintenance and/or PRA a plus Solid base in financial and managerial accounting gained from experience in public accounting or corporate financial reporting or controller roles.
Demonstrated strong leadership skills and experience in leading a team of professionals with the ability to mobilize and align people and resources to respond to opportunities in a timely manner.
Superior negotiation and influencing skills.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, a collaborative style, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
A self-starter who works well without direct or close supervision.

Good problem-solving skills -- analysis, judgment, decision-making.
Demonstrated experience working with a land department and royalty owners in a positive and effective way.
Demonstrated experience working in an SAP-based (or similar large ERP system) general ledger, business warehouse and consolidation system environment. Understanding of and experience in working with various sub-systems that feed the Revenue systems.
Strong Excel modeling skills
Track record of championing process improvements
Accountabilities:
?? Manage, lead, coach and develop the staff within the US PRA Division Order Analyst Team
?? Governance oversight ensuring compliance with Accounting Policies, Group Level Documents, SOX, and Core Controls
?? Monitor performance of the team and identify areas of continual improvement and propose corrective action where necessary
?? Liaise with Business Partner and respond to Production Division queries as required
?? Ensure adequate control and reporting mechanisms are implemented in order to maintain the integrity of the royalty and royalty related items.
o Quality review of division of interest setups within the PRA system & maintain strong links with the land and land administration department
o Oversight and assurance around the distribution decimal calculation during the revenue distribution process
o Oversight for the reporting processes within the division
o Quality assurance activities during closing cycle to validate reported numbers, division of interest setups and maintenance that is either input into or "bulk uploaded" into the PRA system
o Coordinate with land administration group on DOI maintenance, owner ship transfers, suspense release, and special owner handling
o Oversee reviews and understanding of all land owner agreements to ensure proper calculation and timely settlement of all royalty related items
?? Facilitate the embedding of standard finance processes/systems as they relate to royalty
?? Ensure the delivery of timely, complete and accurate standard reports within the Controller''s group and providing necessary reports to the Production Division
?? Collation and preparation of variance analysis with analytical commentary to explain the difference between actual and expected results
?? Interface with the Land Group to ensure accuracy of Royalty calculations and payments
?? Working with various stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of royalty owner enquiries
?? Understand and assist with the review of account reconciliations, briefing papers, stewardship schedules & accounting matters as prepared by the Revenue Accounting team for presentation to senior management
?? Preparation of ad-hoc presentation materials for senior management as required.
?? Lead the Production & Revenue Accounting team through external & internal audit requests for information.
?? Ensure compliance with Global Petroleum accounting policy as it relates to the recognition of revenue, including imbalances and deferred income
?? Champion & drive process improvement initiatives to improve team efficiency & global standardization
