JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Sales &amp; Use Tax Analyst to join our fast paced, results oriented Accounting Department. The individual filling this role will have the responsibility of focusing on all state and local indirect tax compliance matters and will generally assist the tax department and business units on various matters as detailed below. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply tax knowledge in all 50 states and Canada. <br>1. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Economics or Business Administration. CPA certification or Masters in Taxation desired.<br>2. Prefer 3 - 5 years of significant multi-state sales and use tax experience and/or compliance obligations in a corporate and/or manufacturing setting.<br>3. Knowledge of general accounting principles, sales / use tax compliance, sales / use tax audit experience, understanding of federal and state and local income tax concepts.<br>4. Ability to analyze, problem-solve, and exercise discretion and independent judgment.<br>5. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, accurately and tactfully, both verbally and in writing. As well as the ability to prepare well written summaries in a clear and concise manner.<br>6. Ability to work independently and define and achieve long-term goals.<br>7. Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, CCH or RIA tax research tools, Glovia or other general ledger software system.<br>8. Fluent in English, both written and verbal. <br>9. Background and MVR checks will be conducted.<br>10. We do not sponsor immigration visas for this position.<br>1. Research and manage multi-state sales and use tax. This will include responding to routine assessments and notices from state and local tax jurisdictions as well as the filing of sales and use tax returns and related payments<br>2. Develop sales tax knowledge base and document sales tax positions and related exemptions. <br>3. Manage sales and use tax audits including gathering information, researching laws, and preparing responses to auditor’s information requests and assessments.<br>4. Complete quarterly and annual account reconciliations on tax accrual balance sheet accounts to ensure that balances are consistent with returns filed and payments made and any special issues.<br>5. Interact with and educate other parts of the finance department, operations and IT regarding best practices and alert to possible issues.<br>6. Keep current on changing tax rules and regulations required to produce accurate sales and use tax returns.<br>7. Management and review of exemption certificates obtained and periodic audit of exemptions.<br>8. Lead and participate in systems and process improvements related to sales and use tax issues.<br>9. Research and resolution of business license matter and payments of licensing fees.<br>10. Lead accounting and compliance related to Real Property and Personal Property Tax issues.
