JOB SUMMARY:
Deployment Technician Technician s role is to reliably prepare and deploy PC hardware, software, and associated peripherals in support of business requirements for new employees, transfers, employees assigned new duties, electronic equipment repairs and upgrades, and other assigned projects. This includes installing, deploying, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, imaging, backing up data and assisting in transferring data to new drives/computers, and upgrading all PC hardware, software, and related equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance. The person will troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via e-mail) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user and help desk technician assistance where required. This includes participation in the on-call rotation with the IT Help Desk Technicians, providing IT Help Desk overflow telephone support, and assisting walk up employees. The person will also perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure and maintain high quality deployments. 1. Prepare, image, and deploy computers or zero client devices (for DakView/Virtual Desktops), software, and other associated equipment on time. Ensure all IT assets and access is available to the customer prior to deployment to support high customer satisfaction, quality, and completeness the first time the customer s PC and associated equipment is fired up. 2. Perform hands-on or remote fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications. If necessary, liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors. Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution. Prioritize and escalate problems (when required) to the appropriately experienced technician. 3. Receive and respond to incoming calls, walk-ups, or e-mails regarding desktop problems. 4. Assist with maintaining current computer images, software, and hardware asset databases. 5. Assess the need for and implement performance upgrades to PC boxes, including the installation of CPUs, I/O and NIC cards, hard drives, RAM, CD-ROMs, and so on. 6. Participate in the on-call rotation with the IT Help Desk Technicians. 7. Accurately document all work, pertinent end user information, nature of problem or issue, the problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution. 8. Actively participate, contribute, communicate, and function within a team environment. Work with little supervision, ask for help when help is needed, identify problems, which cannot be resolved alone, make suggestions for process, product, and service improvements. 9. Organize, maintain, and clean work areas. 10. Demonstrated understanding of departmental mission, customers it serves, and ability to serve those customers by providing outstanding customer service resulting in customer satisfaction. 11. A positive outlook towards helpdesk duties, customers, and resolution of their issues / problems/ requirements. 12. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned. 13. Regularly and reliably work established schedule. 1. Minimum of an Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred. Information Systems degrees and similar preferred. 2. Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, and listening. 3. Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail. 4. Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. 5. Demonstrated ability to willingly adapt to organizational and customer requirement change. 6. Demonstrated ability to learn and work with a variety of computer systems, peripherals, and applications. 7. Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time. This may include bending and kneeling underneath desks and other tight spaces. 8. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, hand tools, and to handle other computer components. 9. Ability to lift, push/pull or carry objects and equipment weighing up to 45lbs. Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals. 10. Strong written and oral communication skills. Fluent in English, both written and verbal. 11. Background check may be conducted. 12. We do not sponsor immigration visas for this position.
