JOB SUMMARY:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or technical related field preferred and/or minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in similar environment. <br>Job Requirements: Proven experience of leading data center facilities projects. Proven ability to effectively present sales presentations, conducts tours and demonstrate monitoring tools. Demonstrates strong leadership and management – must have previously led project teams and managed project lifecycle. Strong verbal and written communication skills to include skills in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues. Knowledge of vendor supplied brands. Skills in prioritizing multiple-tasks, and research/problem solving. Ability to perform advanced installation and configuration services as required. Ability to work with Microsoft office products and standard drawing packages (Visio or AutoCAD). <br>Overview: Responsible for the day to day oversight and management of a data center facility ensuring continuous availability of the site. Responsible for maintenance and operation of the data center including electrical, mechanical, building control, fire alarm, security and janitorial systems and all other aspects of data center facility operation. Additional duties related to customer support, presales tours, vendor management, team coordination, project management and problem resolution.<br>Essential Functions: 10% of time spent on consultative presale activities for customer presentations, tours, monitoring/management system demos, room topology diagrams, physical site installation planning, electrical/mechanical load estimating and general support of the sales team during the presales process. <br>20% of time spent maintaining facility specific documentation. Critical site documents include: building/site drawings, data hall drawings, electrical one-line drawings, mechanical drawings, telecom drawings, critical equipment specifications, operations manuals, maintenance logs, maintenance contracts, vendor/contractor contact list, Methods of Procedure (MOP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), emergency response procedures, security procedures and site certifications. <br>35% of time spent actively monitoring and managing the facility. Duties include finding ways to reduce operating expenses without sacrificing site availability, responding to system alerts and dispatching resources to remedy issues, monitoring contractor activities and validating work meets quality standards, organize and supervise (along with the Project Management Office) customer installations and de-installations of IT equipment, organize and review equipment maintenance efforts, audit building functions, maintain and operate a building management system (BMS) and a data center infrastructure management (DCIM) system. <br>10% of time spent managing vendors. Duties include coordinating contractor activities while onsite, specifying work to be done, reviewing estimates of labor and materials, seeking multiple bids (as needed), reviewing maintenance contracts, strive to limit the number of vendors (especially those with access to the data center), stay current on new technologies and architecture trends offered by leading manufacturers in the data center space, evaluate new technologies and the impact they may have on the operation of the data center and quality of service delivered to customers. <br>20% of time spent participating in data center projects. At times, will be expected to participate in the delivery of data center services. These services may include, but are not limited to, assessing a customer’s current data center environment, estimating capital improvements and operating costs, planning for a relocation of IT equipment, IT hardware installations, rack integration, cabling and cable management, placement of power whips, installation of environmental sensors and power monitors, movement of floor tiles, airflow enhancers, etc. In these situations, no task is too small or unimportant.
