JOB SUMMARY:
Full-time, exempt. Flight Nurse experience required. CAMTS accreditation experience required. Previous management experience preferred. <br>The Intensive Air Clinical Manager will be responsible for staff management, clinical program management, education / training of flight staff, policy and procedure development and revision, CAMTS accreditation preparation, outreach activities, performance management process of employees, performance improvement activities relating to transport, and networking with regional and national transport agencies. Included in the above activities are the following: coordinate daily clinical activities, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with physicians, nurses, hospital and pre-hospital personnel, and Intensive Air team members. She / he will continually monitor, review and revise the clinical activities of the flight program in conjunction with the medical director. Serves as the clinical points of contact for clinical team members, communication center, medical director, director of transport, AAMS national office, administration, referring facilities / agencies and transported patients. Coordinates the development and revision of clinical and administrative policies and procedures. Holds accountability for the orientation and on-going continuing education of adult flight teams and ensures other teams have completed orientation and on-going education. Assists Director with the coordination of the financial business within the program and the budget process to achieve operational and financial objectives. Will conduct performance reviews for adult flight nurses and paramedics. Assists with interviewing, hiring, counseling, disciplining, and terminating for all flight team members.<br>The RN functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules. The Sanford Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice (2004) and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (2001) as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation for nursing care delivery.<br>Required Skills <br>Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Current Clinical Managers who do not possess a Bachelor’s in Nursing will be required to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing not later than June 1, 2014. Failure to obtain a Bachelor’s in Nursing by this date will be considered as a withdrawal from current employment status at the Manager / Director level. A minimum of 3 years of hands-on nursing experience preferred. Management experience preferred.<br>Currently licensed with the applicable State Nursing Board and/or possess multistate licensure privileges as required by position. Prefer certification in nursing specialty. Maintains required department specific competencies and certifications (i.e. - ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP, etc.). Within one year of date of hire, the Clinical Manager must become certified in a specialty related to Flight or Emergency Nursing, Functions within legal RN scope of practice.<br>This position is based on a 40-hour week with 12 hours functioning in the clinical setting. There will be the need to attend special events outside of Sanford Health (such as conventions, regional meetings, etc.) representing Intensive Air. Must carry a pager and/or cell phone.
