JOB SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of tasks involved in processing outpatient and inpatient medical records for purposes of billing and statistics accumulation. Performs various related tasks in the overall Health Information Management Department function. Bachelor Degree in Health Information Administration (RHIA), Associate Degree in Health Information Technology (RHIT), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred. Certification or registration is a requirement for this position and must be completed within the first year of employment. Proficiency in ICD-9-CM, CPT-4 and HCPCS coding systems. Knowledge of DRG's and APC's required.  Knowledge of ICD-10 classification system preferred. 80 hours per two week period. Shifts will be 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. 8 hour shifts. Weekends as needed.  Holidays as needed.
