JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Small Engine Mechanic at Laughlin AFB.
* Repairs fractional-horsepower gasoline engines used to power lawnmowers, garden tractors, and similar machines, using hand tools.
* Transport equipment from sites.
* Trouble-shoot mechanical problems.
* Dismantle engines, using hand tools, and examine parts for defects.
* Replace and/or repair parts, such as rings and bearings, using hand tools.
* Clean, adjust, and rebuild carburetors.
* Starts repaired engines and listens to sounds to test performance.
* Repair equipment in the field.
* Perform maintenance and checks on equipment such as cleaning, greasing, checking fluid levels, and adding as required, checking tire air pressure, checking all lights, windshield wipers, braking system, mirrors, windows, damage to vehicle, and make adjustments, and repairs.
* Document all repairs maintenance.
* Maintain supply of sharpened lawn mower blades and chain saw chains.
* Train workers on the safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
* Determines materials needed for repair work and prepares requisition.
* Responsible for timely reporting of accidents, injuries, and hazardous situations.
* Perform all other work related duties as assigned.

* Adherence to contract requirements, safety and health regulations, and company policies
Work Conditions: Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work is subject to extreme temperatures, noise, inclement weather conditions, and other conditions determined by the nature of the job. Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard, and soft-carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces at variable heights.
MINIMUM Qualifications:
* Three years similar experience.
* Ability to maintain maintenance records for equipment.
* Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
* Ability to understand and have working knowledge of hazardous, safety, and environmental warnings.
* General knowledge of all maintenance and construction trades.
* High school degree or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Technical or trade school completion.
* Class A Commercial Texas drivers license.
