The SNT is responsible to the RN with oversight of the patient assignment, the unit Nurse Manager and the Nurse Manager for Professional Nursing Development who delineates schedules, unit responsibilities and competencies.

 

• The SNT possesses knowledge and skills necessary to:
• Provide care for complex, acute and long-term patients according to established RHJVAMC policies and procedures
• Document care given, observations and responses on appropriate tools/forms.
• Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with internal and external customers.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient/employee information electronically, verbally and in writing.
• Work and function in a safe manner including but not limited to infection control and operation of equipment. 
• Integrate and apply pertinent aspects of the Medical Center performance improvement program and TJC standards into his/her professional practice
• Utilize nursing research and literature in daily practice
• Demonstate competency in clinical procedures
• Provides care appropriate to population specific needs of Veterans
• Seek out opportunities to learn new skills, attend all mandatory in-services as well as share with staff the knowledge gained from formal education classes.
