The Natural Resources Conservation Service provides leadership in a partnership effort to help conserve, maintain, and improve our natural resources and environment.  South Dakota NRCS

This position serves as a soil conservationist in one of the South Dakota field office staff assisting the district conservationist in carrying out a complete natural resource conservation program. The incumbent is under the supervision of the district conservationist.

Status Candidates include:

  • Current Federal employees serving under a career or career conditional appointment
    Former Federal employees with reinstatement eligibility.
  • Applicants eligible for consideration under Special Hiring Authorities (i.e. VRA, Peace Corps).
  • Veterans eligible under Veterans Employment Opportunities Act (VEOA).
  • Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) participants who are well qualified may apply for this position. To be eligible for consideration under CTAP, an applicant must provide written notification that they will be losing their current federal position.  To be eligible for consideration under ICTAP, an applicant must provide proof that they have lost their federal position within the last year.  To be well-qualified and exercise selection priority for this vacancy, displaced Federal employees must be rated at 85 or above on the rating criteria for this position.  CTAP/ICTAP eligibles must submit one of the following as proof of eligibility for the special selection priority:

• a separation notice;
• a "Notice of Personnel Action" (SF-50) documenting separation;
• an agency certification that you cannot be placed after injury compensation has been terminated;
• an OPM notification that your disability annuity has been terminated;
• a Military Department or National Guard Bureau notification that you are retired under 5 U.S.C. 8337(h) or 8456.

 

All current or former federal employees serving or who served on a career or career conditional appointment, or reinstatement eligibles MUST submit a copy of their latest Standard Form 50 (SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action), Performance Appraisal (dated within the last 15 months - if not available, please provide a statement as to why it is not available), and a resume.  Failure to submit any of these items will result in removal from further consideration.
