JOB SUMMARY:

The Department of the Interior is devoted to protecting and preserving the natural resources of this great nation, including National Parks, Landmarks, and the well-being of communities, including those of Native American, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and affiliated Islanders.

If selected for this position, you will serve as a Fiduciary Trust Officer within the Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians, Deputy Special Trustee--Field Operations, Pine Ridge, SD.  You will provide support to the Special Trustee for American Indians (Special Trustee) by functioning as a direct line between the Department of the Interior and Indian beneficiaries.

Please note:  While traveling you may be required to operate a vehicle while traveling; therefore you must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license.

 

Salary and Duty Location Information: 

GS-13 $82,642 - $107,434 per annum.  GS-14 $97,657 - $126,949 per annum. 

 

First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level. Relocation expenses will not be authorized.

 

This is a permanent, full-time, career/career conditional appointment.  The position has a full performance level of GS-14. 

 

The Office of the Secretary has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

 

Indian Preference Policy:  Preference in filling this vacancy is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (Title 25, USC, Section 472).  Verification Form BIA-4432 must be submitted with the application prior to the closing date of the announcement, if claiming Indian Preference.  Applicants selected under Indian preference from this vacancy will be appointed under the Excepted Service, Schedule A 213.3112(a)(7) appointing authority.  Consideration will be given to Non-Indian applications in the absence of qualified Indian Preference eligibles.
