JOB SUMMARY:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Basic Animal Husbandry
A. Support, oversee, and conduct as needed, the cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing of indoor and outdoor animal housing areas.
B. Assist the Team Leader and Senior Animal Resources Technologist with monthly microbiological testing of indoor and outdoor animal caging for quality assurance concerning cleanliness.
C. Distribute feed and special diets to colony and hospital/special needs patients at the discretion of the veterinarian.
D. Assist with animal movement within the colony, and in/out of the hospital.
E. Assist management staff with the training of employees on SOPs.
2. Facilities / Equipment Maintenance
A. Ensure that all animal housing and hospital transport equipment is in good working condition.
B. Create work orders to ensure Part A is accomplished.
C. Inventory, stocking, and maintenance of items used in the area.
3. Animal Health Care
A. Perform daily clinical rounds for all hospitalized patients and/or sale animals as scheduled.
B. Assist Animal Resources Technologist and Colony Veterinarian with a wide range of clinical procedures.
C. Assist the Senior Animal Resources Supervisor and Team Leader with a variety of colony management items to include breeding proficiency, breeding reformations, animal relocations and shipments, and animal support during structural repairs or construction.
D. In the absence of the Animal Resources Technologist, be able to meet the daily demands of the clinic to include daily husbandry, treatment protocols, and emergency cases.
