Subsurface Data Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:
The Subsurface Data Specialists are typically the first point of contact responsible for the provision of data management support and services, assigned to one, (or more depending on the size of the asset). Responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:
Managing all types of digital data/documents including petrophysics, geological, reservoir engineering etc., through its lifecycle from receipt to disposal.
Resolving data issues.
Supporting a team (petrophysicists, geologists, reservoir engineers) with a range of Data Management tasks and activities to manage & control the data used by their teams in project databases/information stores and master data stores.
Coordinate the archival of data using defined indexing technologies/standards and robust archival processes.
Capacity planning and management, e.g. disk capacity planning, ensuring there is enough available disk space for their team(s) to use both in the Linux & NT environment.
Utilising and developing spatial data capabilities for their team.
Acting as a SPOC for the receipt and distribution of data to and from third parties e.g. partners, contractors and regulatory authorities, ensuring that data is received and transferred in the appropriate formats and with appropriate audit trail.
Coordinating and help maintain the data their team access via Sharepoint, a document management system, shared drive, portal or web-site.
Implementing elements of global and/or local data management strategies and plans as relevant.
Coordinating data service requests with the IT Data Operations Team and ensure the delivery meets the regions quality standards and SLAs.

Process
Implement the data workflows as established by Data Governance process: ensures that defined data processes, standards and workflows are documented and followed in their area of specialism (e.g. unique identifiers & naming conventions for formations, tools etc.)
Recommend changes to workflows to the relevant Data Governance group, where process improvement opportunities are identified or a business need to change processes arises.

Governance
Responsible for implementing a data ownership model for specific data types
Act as a data steward for corporate/master data.

Performance Management
Responsible for facilitating subsurface performance management reporting.
Responsible for delivering elements of the annual data management performance objectives.

Communication and Engagement
Communicate with Subsurface Data Leads, Subsurface Data Analysts, Data Integration Specialists, Data Operations Analysts.
Coordinate with counterparts in other asset/Subsurface teams to ensure data is shared and managed consistently.
Act as a link between team and IT&S, to communicate key IT&S information
Closely supervise Data Subsurface Analysts working on data in their domain or area.
