JOB SUMMARY:
DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Supervisor, Cost Accounting supervises the Bell Helicopter Accounting staff responsible for ensuring that inventory and costs are fairly and accurately presented in accordance with GAAP.
Position Responsibilities:
- Review general ledger account reconciliations and ensure that Financial Departmental Instructions are kept current.
- Supervises the timely creation and maintenance of program work orders, the recording of cost of sales on delivered aircraft, the recording of cost transfers and the calculation of LIFO inventory valuation on a semi-annual basis.
- Supervise staff in assigned month end close procedures.
- Analyze monthly variances and provide explanations.
- Assist external auditors on all issues related to annual and specific audits
- Assist with contract finalizations
- Investigate and resolve audit issues
- Provide guidance on Accounting issues to other administrative and operation functions.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance - or similar discipline - is required.
- MBA is preferred.
- CPA is preferred.
Position Requirements:
- 8+ years total Finance/Accounting experience is preferred.
- Experience in inventory and cost analysis is required.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and SOX is required.
- Aerospace & Defense industry experience is preferred.
- SAP system experience is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft office skills are required.
- Candidate must have demonstrated problem solving ability, and excellent analytical skills, including the ability to analyze and understand complex systems and processes.
- Candidate must have the ability to identify deficiencies and identify/implement fixes.
- Candidate must be able to effectively develop teams and manage/direct the workflow of others.
