The Seasonal Recruitment Operations Center is currently accepting applications to fill up to 1 temporary positions at Padre Island National Seashore.  Appointments made under this announcement are limited to 1039 hours (six months) in a service year and may be terminated at any time. Appointments under this announcement are eligible for rehire and/or extension (when initial appointment is less than 1039 hours) if workload and funding allow.  Anticipated Entry on Duty:  March, 2014

Padre Island National Seashore is located near Corpus Christi, Texas (pop. 271,000).  Elevations range from sea level to 75 feet.  The climate is very humid and temperatures range from  30 degrees on the coldest winter days to 98 degrees on very hot summer days.  The yearly average is 75 degrees.  Government quarters are not available.  Electric and utility rates are as  high, or higher, than most other states.  Good grade schools and high schools with bus services are available as well as other city services. Churches, banks, hospitals, and shopping  centers are in abundance.  Corpus Christi has a 4-year university and a junior college, several theaters, radio stations, as well as local TV stations and cable.  A wide variety of  recreational facilities are convenient including beaches, salt water fishing, museums, and aquarium, botanical gardens, and many civic organizations and youth clubs.
