About the Position:
As a Physical Therapist for the Extremity Trauma and Amputation Center of Excellence (EACE) at the Center for the Intrepid, you will provide physical therapy patient care and management and provision of physical therapy services. Applies the principles, theories, and practices of physical therapy, kinesiology and biomechanics to execute methodologically sound studies, collect clinical data, write protocols, conduct appropriate data analysis, and assist with preparation of manuscripts to present study findings. Supports execution of a comprehensive plan of action for developing and supporting clinical research efforts within the EACE in support of care for patients being treated at the CFI. Independently evaluate referred clients for diagnosis and treatment planning and determine current levels of function. Functional area assessments include gross and fine motor skills, deep tendon reflexes, peripheral sensory testing, gait and ambulation, muscle strength, joint range of motion, self-care skills and activities of daily living skills, neuromuscular functioning, etc. Carry out broad applied clinical research programs pertaining to areas of biomechanics, rehabilitative therapy, metabolic aspects of traumatic injuries, and methodologies for conducting the above research. Research is conducted to develop new knowledge and applications in these areas relevant to future and existing physical therapy care.
