This recruitment will be used to fill many seasonal appointments. These appointments are not to exceed 1039 hours in a twelve month period, although positions may be terminated sooner or extended depending on management needs.
The positions are located at the National Park Service, Big Thicket National Preserve, Texas. This national preserve protects the incredible diversity of life found where multiple habitats converge in southeast Texas. Hiking trails and waterways meander through nine different ecosystems, from longleaf pine forests to cypress-lined bayous. It is a place of discovery, a place to wander and explore, a place to marvel at the richness of nature.
The workers will perform simple and routine work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds and trails, exterior structures, buildings and related utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, and other related trades. Assists or leads trail crews on bridge building, tread, brushing, drainage and trail cleaning projects.
