Overview:
Makes comparative freight analyses in order to determine the most cost effective and timely options for securing needed transportation services.
Responsibilities:
* Assigns shipments to carriers based on the lowest cost possible without exceeding customer service time requirements. Determines the appropriate carrier and mode to utilize for each load. Coordinates shipment of loads based on stock vs. sold orders, size of loads and carrier availability.
* Builds truck loads to target of 40,000 lbs.
* Verifies routing of multi-stop truck loads and make changes and/or adjustments as needed.
* Determines if less than truck load (LTL) should be shipped in order to meet service and customer satisfaction goals.
* Coordinates with Planning Department to deploy inventory.
* Tracks deliveries to destinations as requested by customers. Coordinates tracking with both the Customer Service Department and the carrier.
* Releases approved shipments to shipping locations.
* Assists customers in problem resolution in coordination with the Customer Service Department.
* Generates and distributes reports, including but not limited to re-caps of shipments from RDC’s, hot shipments, LTL report for Mohawk, Mexico shipping, as well as, various ad hoc reports for internal and external customers as needed.
Performs other assigned duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education and Knowledge:
High School diploma, some college or equivalent experience.
Experience:
1 - 3 years transportation/distribution experience.
Competencies:
Excellent customer service skills. Effective communication and listening skills. Good computer skills in spreadsheets, word processing and databases. Good 10-key and basic math skills. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
