JOB SUMMARY:

<br>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
<br>' Three years of maintenance and/or construction experience in roadway/highway, bridge, sign, drawbridge or landscape,
<br>* Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
<br>NOTE: Successful applicant must obtain a Tanker endorsement within 6 months of hire.
<br>* Requires a maximum 30-minute response time for emergency call-outs. May be required to be available for emergency calls, 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, including holidays; or be On-Call.
<br>
<br>Duties:
<br>* Work along side crew members to accomplish the assigned daily tasks, leading by example.
<br>* Assists the crew in planning, prioritizing, scheduling and accomplishing the assigned tasks by leading pre-work meetings.
<br>* The person in this position monitors the work performed by the crew to ensure that the work meets applicable standards, policies and procedures.
<br>* Plan, prioritize, schedule, assign and review work activities based on availability of materials, equipment and staff resources.
<br>* Advise and guide employees in effective performance and to resolve work-related issues.
<br>* Schedule shifts or weekend work when necessary.
<br>* Approve time records and employee overtime.
<br>* Patrol highways and structures within the section looking for potential accidents, hazards and damages.
<br>* Review and evaluate structural damages from accidents.
<br>* Respond to accidents and other emergencies.
<br>* Secure the area by providing traffic control, gather and record data, notify appropriate people/organizations, call out necessary staff and arrange for equipment and/or supplies.
<br>* Coordinate activities with other crews, agencies, private contractors and news media to ensure safety of the public and crews.
<br>* Provide new employee orientation.
<br>* Ensure crew has the resources to accomplish work: determine types and quantities of materials and equipment needed for specific projects, schedule equipment and order materials to be on-site as needed.
<br>* Ensure proper maintenance of equipment by scheduling repairs and services with vendors and/or field mechanics, assessing most cost-effective use of equipment or type of repair.
<br>* Review work of crew and provide input to Transportation Maintenance Manager (TMM) on employee performance.
<br>* Assist the TMM with short- and long-range planning and budget preparation.
<br>* Communicate with the TMM and District Office regarding needs, problems, crew activities, etc.; conduct research and make recommendations as necessary.
<br>
