We are
looking for a Transportation Planner II who will be responsible
for managing all load tendering activities for their assigned Plant,
in a manner that ensured cost effective transportation of finished
goods at service levels that meet corporate objectives.
Specific
responsibilities include, but are not limited
to:
· Ensure that all orders
are dispatched and assigned for pickup on the appropriate ship date
to meet promised delivery dates, within approved traffic lane pricing
guidelines.
· Negotiate rates and truck
service with motor carriers doing business with GAFMC, for assigned
Plants within approved traffic lane pricing guidelines.
· Work with the Dock
Scheduling Coordinator and Carriers to ensure that all shipments are
scheduled and picked up on a daily basis within dock schedule
guidelines to meet daily manpower deployment objectives for the
Plant.
· For those Plants that
deploy private fleet equipment, ensure that fleet trucks assigned to
the Plant are dispatched and deployed in a cost effective manner,
under established private fleet deployment and pricing guidelines.
· With assistance from
Corporate Transportation and the Logistics Manager, develop and
maintain a carrier base to support the planned service sales
territories and shipment volume. Actively participate in efforts to
expand the carrier base to meet demand spikes caused by sales
promotions, seasonal buys, weather related business spikes, etc. This
includes ongoing communications, and negotiation, with the
established carriers as well as prospecting for new carriers that add
value and strengthen the established base.
· Manage Shipment Demand
through daily review of order intake against Plant and carrier
capacities using established "Ship Cap" processes.
· Partner with the
Logistics Coordinator to ensure that Customer Service, IUT planners
and Sales are provided with accurate and timely information regarding
late shipments, late deliveries, missed pickups, rescheduled orders,
expedited orders etc. In addition, provide appropriate levels of
preparation and follow up to ensure Job Site (Time Sensitive)
deliveries are delivered as promised.
· Partner with the
Logistics Coordinator to ensure that carrier equipment is loaded to
maximum capacity under established "vary item" process,
including working with carriers to ensure that the equipment provided
meets established order weights.
· Ensure that all shipping
paperwork (Bill of Landing, Picking Slip, etc.) is generated on a
timely basis, distributed accurately, contains accurate information
(including tarp instructions) and is appropriately retained for audit
purposes.
· Identify and implement
process improvements that reduce cost and improve customer service.
· Utilize computer
applications to determine shipping requirements, measure carrier
performance, manage shipment reliability, perform cost/service
analysis, and coordinate activities related to shipment scheduling
through delivery.
· Perform other duties as
assigned.
Requirements
A Bachelors Degree with at Three to Five years of
Transportation/Logistics experience. In addition, be family with
standard Manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures, as well ad
being acquainted with Warehouse Management Systems
(WMS-RF)
