JOB SUMMARY:
Technician - Concentrator Met Lab Requisition # SAL001E0 A Technician will research, develop, adapt, implement and conduct routine and experimental chemical, fire assay and instrumental analyses to determine qualitative and quantitative composition of ores, reagents, process materials, refined metals and commercial settlement samples. What it Takes ?A high school diploma or equivalent ?Prior coursework/experience in a chemistry related field ?Experience in metallurgical and chemical research ?Experience using analytical instruments such as: x-ray analyzers, absorption and emission, spectrometers, electrolytic analyzers, analytical balances, pulp balances, sulfur and oxygen analyzers, pH meters, viscometers, chromatographs, gauges, flow and gas meters, pumps, laboratory ball mills and flotation cells, densitometers, briquetting press, power supplies, centrifuge, drying ovens ?Experience using general laboratory equipment such as burettes, beakers, hot plates, burners, crucibles, funnels, micropipettes and sample mixers ?Experience in sample preparation including crushing, blending, splitting, grinding, wet and dry screening, flotation, and filtration ?Experience developing chemical and/or instrumental methods for new classes of materials and for improvements in existing methods ?Experience coordinating laboratory quality control and quality assurance programs including developing standards, validating methods, training laboratory personnel, troubleshooting all laboratory methods and equipment, developing instrument maintenance schedules and overseeing routine analytical work ?Experience validating qualitative and quantitative analyses of prepared samples requiring use of proper spectrographic materials and methods ?Experience developing, adapting, revising, validating and implementing chemical, instrument and spectrographic analytical methods to be used on materials where new methods or method changes are needed ?Experience compiling results, evaluating, interpreting and presenting data in various tabulated and graphical forms ?Experience programming computers to control automated instruments and to transmit data ?Skilled in the use of computer operations including Word and Excel and the ability to learn laboratory specific protocols including custom software ?Experience in the use of X-Ray fluorescence (XRF) will be considered a plus ?Excellent communication skills both oral and written-required ?Demonstrated safety conscious approach to work ?Strong analytical, organizational and prioritization skills
