JOB SUMMARY:

JOB DESCRIPTION: Applies knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Assists with engineering duties for planning and designing mechanically functioning equipment. Researches, evaluates, and tests mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. Recommends system components or modification of systems to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications. Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, manufacturer's drawings, and computer-generated reports. Assists with the investigation of equipment or system failures and provides recommendations. SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS: Individuals must have a minimum of two (2) to qualify for Entry level positions, seven (7) years experience to qualify for Journeymen positions and twelve years of experience to qualify for Senior level experience in relevant engineering positions (Government or industry) and a BS degree in a related engineering field. Senior positions require four years experience in a workload, management, or oversight capacity and a BS and/or MS degree in a related engineering field, A BS degree in an alternative field of study granted through an approved waiver may be considered. Prior Department of Defense experience preferred.
