JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the life cycle Configuration Management and Technical Writing for all Mission Planning System/Portable Flight Planning System/Joint Mission Planning System's (MPS/PFPS/JMPS) for ACC, AMC, AFSOC, AETC, AFMC communities, DOD and Non-DOD agencies based on their needs for hardware operation and maintenance manuals, software installation instructions, and quick reference guides for aircraft software. Employee initiates effort to coordinate with applicable agencies (SPO's and MAJCOMS) regarding Mission Planning Environment (MPE) Letters, test packages, and software releases to the field for applicable Airframes Implements and maintains software duplication processes, procedures and associated configuration management practices Creates Computer Program Identification Number (CPINs) for certified software in accordance with T.O. 00-5-16 and 00-5-17 Use judgment during OT Cert of the MPSSF readiness to support Operational Test (OT) based on standing enterprise policy and procedure. Subsequently AWE CM Lead will create the test package of the AWE for OT and ship to the applicable test agency Upon receipt of the MAJCOM Certification Letter and a successful kit proof, the employee will field the MPE within 10 business days to the authorized recipients via the Technical Order Distribution System (TODO) Establish time line of project through discussion with outside agencies and platform communities.Prepare mission planning software releases, including preparation of software release masters (tape, floppy, and CD-ROMs) Develop operation and maintenance procedure documentation based upon scheduled hardware releases. Control the receipt, registration, and distribution of information within the software and documentation library; alert mission planning personnel of updates and corrections Focal point in the MPSSF for the checking in/out of all Configuration Items (CI's) and the posting of all documents on MPC Coordinate with subject matter experts to ensure the timely kitproof and validation of software release packages prior to issue to the responsible test organizations and fielding dissemination Coordinate between the MAJCOM, System Program Office, and other key organizations to initiate and support the recurring review of software anomalies resulting in the definition, categorization and eventual disposition of mission planning software deficiencies Interface with these agencies to coordinate in-process reviews and formal qualification testing. Create and modify reports of the software deficiency database to support customer information requests and emerging requirements from the MAJCOM's, SPO, and test organizations. Develop hardware operation and maintenance manuals as well as, Software installation procedures. Plan and organize emergency deficiency review boards, enabling key decision makers to make timely and accurate decisions on the critical disposition of software deficiencies potentially affecting multiple airframes used by the warfighter. Work with the software for each community to better understand its functionality and roles within the software suite. Interface with outside agencies to establish the verification process for hardware documentation, software installation verification through kit proofs, and reference guide formal qualification testing. Effectively react to quick-turnaround and emergency category 1 deficiencies by coordinating with decision makers, disseminating required information, and generating review boards; enabling the identification, investigation, and correction of software deficiencies that can potentially have loss-of-life impacts to the warfighter Responsible for validating and graduating deficiency reports submitted by operators in the field from candidate status to qualified deficiency status on the Enterprise Deficiency Reporting register Support the Mission Planner User Conference (MPUC). Knowledge of Configuration Management and skill in apply this knowledge to the development.
