JOB SUMMARY:
Sets up, operates, adjusts, cleans, troubleshoots and repairs high volume / high speed automated equipment, as well as auxillary equipment including case sealer, printers, etc. Recommends process adjustments to aid production. Implements changes as directed. Develops and fabricates any new fixturing required for the department to which assigned, as well as modifications to existing equipment. Specify, perform and document all preventive maintenance procedures in order to reduces and prevent machine downtime. Works closely with the engineering team to complete a variety of activities, including but not limited to: developing user instructions and job aids, implementing process changes, root cause evaluations, corrective actions, qualifications, tests, protocols, validation and other department projects. Instructs and trains personnel in the proper methods and techniques of operation and use of production machines and equipment. Communicates new procedures as necessary. Recommends and implement improvements to ensure a safe workplace. Identifies and reports potential safety hazards. Orders and maintains spare parts inventory for machines and equipment. Assist with investigating potential areas for quality and efficiency improvements. Assist in Technician duties in other departments on an as needed basis if emergency arises. May handle equipment/fixturing projects from start to finish, including initiating contact with vendors to review equipment problems and determine proper repairs or improvements to equipment and interacting with other departments such as Engineering and Purchasing to complete the project. Verifies effectiveness of repairs, improvements and ensures product produced meets specification. The Technician is responsible for complying to all GMP?s, SOP?s, MI?s and SI?s during the course of his work. Escalates issues when appropriate Maintain all required documentation, including production and maintenance logs Education and Experience Required: At least 3 years experience maintaining and repairing high volume / high speed automated equipment in a production environment. Demonstrated knowledge of photoelectric, fibereoptic, and proximity sensors, pneumatics (air prep, solenoids, cylinders), and mechanical tooling systems. Must have prior experience working with Program Logic Controls Basic computer skills Ability to operate a mill and/or lathe Ability to work in a clean room environment Prior experience working in an FDA regulated environment highly desired. Prior experience working in the medical device industry highly desired. Ability to effectively interact and communicate with employees at all levels of the organization. Ability to effectively provide training
